The idea behind the double body flamenco or classical guitar is to add a resonating box to insulate the guitar from the players body and force all the sound from the back and sides out the front of the guitar.
The inner back is rosewood and the outer body is either rosewood or cypress. The two backs do not touch and the sides are joined by rosewood blockings.
The result is increased volume, sustain and projection. It also adds a certain "presence" to the sound. It's a wonderful instrument for tablao or solo performance due to the great projection.
